in the city of concord and the senseless act of vandalism is costing many residents hundreds of dollars. brian flores is talking to some people and has more. >> reporter: we're live here at the 1400 of bel air drive at a condo complex. at least ten cars in this complex alone had their tires slashed. an additional 50 in the concord area. residents -- residents are trying to find other ways to get around and are paying for it. some concord residents are left with frustration. >> we're looking at $800 replacing all of the four tires because it's all the four tires that were damaged. >> reporter: she has not the only one -- she was not the only one. police say the first calls came in before 7:00 a.m. on sunday targeting glazer drive, mochado drive and bel air drive. at least nine cars were hit at one condo complex. >> it's a non-gated entry. i think that would help, or maybe just someone patrolling. we don't really know what the situation is going to be. >> kind of disheartening. to see our customers coming in having to deal with that. >> reporter: tire stores around concord were busy all day. the

in on street in concord. christie smith is live this morning with a look at the damage. a rough way to start a week, huh, christie? >> reporter: good morning, jon. i'm sure these car owners do not want to deal with this. someone slashed the tires on 60 cars in this neighborhood. in most cases they hit all four tires. you can see two tires flattened and a van in the driveway. someone hit that one as well. two more minivans across the street. we're on the east side of clayton road. this vandalism extends to the west side. concord police got calls around 7:00 sunday morning. the more they investigated, the worse it got. vandals hit cars in the same neighborhood. concord police say it's under investigation. they haven't said anything about suspects or arrests but i can tell you within the last maybe 10 to 15 minutes or so, i did see concord police officer driving very slowly down the street with the spotlight on looking at the cars and kind of looking into homes and bushes here but just kind of cruising around. obviously they are still very much looking into this. reporting live in concord, chri

, this is the driest start, 2013 for all of the cities you see here, sonoma, napa, sfo, redwood city, oakland, concord, hayward, santa cruz running the driest for this record. now, because december was such a wet start to the rainfall season, seasonal totals not looking too bad. but if we stay dry now in the next two weeks, typically one of the wettest times of the year you're going to see these numbers start to drop off even though the snow pack is better than last year which was bone dry. again, these numbers tarting to come down now and starting to lose a chance of seeing rain in the forecast. the culprit is a blocking ridge of high pressure which is taking the active storm track off to the north and subtropical jets to the south. h is going to lead to some clear skies. warm temperatures through the week. warmest day is wednesday, thursday, friday. instead of talking about rain you're going to see this tomorrow. mostly clear skies. patchy of low clouds. morning temperatures, mostly mid 30s to some low 40s for tomorrow morning. and high temperatures tomorrow, a little bit warmer than today. probably

.m. police in concord are looking for the person who slashed the tires on dozens of vehicles. a picture posted shows the damage to one of them, all four tires are slashed. about 60 vehicles in all were damaged. they were parked in the area of glacier drive and bel-air drive. they believe it happened earlier this morning. they are asking people to call in with any tips. in fremont, a disaster drill involving hundreds of state and local emergency workers. the horrific looking scene was actually a training drill for police, fire and medical responders. it gave them a chance to practice working together in the event of a major disaster. operation chaos had people posing as victims to help stream line their operations. >> learn how to interact with the fire, paramedic, police and the natural disaster. we are expected to all work together which we don't get to do this type of training a lot. th is a big deal. >> the army national guard, fremont police and even the boy scouts took part in a six-hour exercise. >>> still to come, a look at the controversial process used by the meat industry to t

of the union here on abc7 and abc7news.com tuesday beginning at 6:00 p.m. police in concord are looking for the person who slashed the tires on dozens of vehicles. a picture posted shows the damage to one of them, all four tires are slashed. about 60 vehicles in all were damaged. they were parked in the area of glacier drive and bel-air drive. they believe it happened earlier this morning. they are asking people to call in with any tips. in fremont, a disaster drill involving hundreds of state and local emergency workers. the horrific looking scene was actually a training drill for police, fire and medicalrespond. responders. it gave them a chance to practice working together in the event of a major disaster. operation chaos had people posing as victims to help stream line their operations. >> learn how to interact with the fire, paramedic, police and the natural disaster. we are expected to all work together which we don't get to do this type of training a lot. th is a big deal. >> the army national guard, fremont police and even the boy scouts took part in a six-hour exercise. >>> sti

of the american war of independence we can think of battles like lexington and concord, where the yankees slithered on their bellies and shot at the red coats from behind trees and rocks in ways that the red coats considered to be ungentlemanly and not quite crooked. these were no doubt effective tactics. but in the end, what's striking to me about the american revolution is the extent to which it was decided not so much by what happened on the battlefield, but what actually happened in the house of parliament, in the comments in england. now, when you read conventional accounts, as i may use that word of the american revolution, they usually conclude with the battle of yorktown in 1781, at which lord cornwallis surrendered about 7000 troops to general washington. and there is no doubt this was a massive setback for the british war effort. but the fact remains that he was renting 7000 troops to washington that british still have thousands more troops in north america. america. and they could've summoned tens of thousands more troops from other parts of the empire if they had decided to do
